POLAND Revitalisation work has begin on Spichlerz Deo, which forms part of Deo Plaza and is being developed on Spichrzów Island in Gdańsk by companies owned by Zbigniew Nowak.
This is the only fully preserved building of the former granary complex on this part of the island and so the work is to be carried out under the supervision of the city’s historic monuments department. This stage of the project should be completed in Q2 2018.
At the end of last year the investor finished the first stage of the construction work – erecting diaphragm walls and a horizontal anti-filtration barrier under the complex’s buildings. This work was carried out at the depth of up to 9m under ul. Chmielna and 5.5m below the ground water level.
The Deo Plaza project will complete the revitalisation of this part of the northern tip of Spichrzów Island. Construction work on the complex was launched last May last year by SOW Apartamenty 10 and SOW Hotel, which were established by Pomeranian entrepreneur Zbigniew Nowak to develop the project. The current stage of the work is being carried out by Porr as the general contractor, while the process for selecting future contractors is already in progress. The complex of two seven-storey buildings with a combined area of 40,000 sqm will consist of a 4-star hotel with 374 rooms, a service section (including cafés and restaurants along the newly-developed embankment of the Motława river) as well as an apartment section with 121 units. The complex will also include a recreation centre with a swimming pool and spa as well as a banquet and conference centre with nine rooms, capable of hosting events for app. 900 guests. A two-storey car park with 200 parking spaces is to be constructed under the building.
The most spectacular features of the project include a restaurant with a view onto the historic Main City of Gdańsk from one of the uppermost floors. The operator of the hotel section will be Dobry Hotel. This will include a two-storey, 250 sqm apartment building overlooking the Motława and its own lift to the car park level. Tekton Capital is responsible for the sale of the apartments, app. 30 pct of which had been purchased by the end of 2016.
